Claude Bolling's "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano" was one of the first compositions to explore what has become commonly known as the crossoverstyle. In this case, the elements are classical, specifically baroque idioms merging with swing-style jazz. Written in 1975, for and in collaboration with the celebrated French flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal, the Bolling Suite was an immediate hit. In the top ten on Billboard charts for two years, it was in the top forty for eight years thereafter!

Lee Hoibys "Bon Appétit!" is transcribed from an episode of the iconic Julia Child television broadcast in which the master creates a classic chocolate cake. You will be delighted by Samantha Malks hilarious multi-tasking impersonation of the French Chef - feverishly whisking with flour flying and egg-beaters racing, all while singing the text accompanied by a woodwind quintet and piano.
