Lindner was house pianist at Smalls during the mid-90s and McCaslin replaced Michael Brecker in Steps Ahead.

But like Miles Davis, neither McCaslin nor Lindner is content to reiterate their past accomplishments. A forward-seeking restlessness permeates their music; non-stop surprises and unexplored textural landscapes emerge from their continual quest.
